What is the etiquette on wearing pantyhose/ stockings these days?

My mother would not let me out of the house if I did not have hose on, but now I hear of girls visiting the White House in flip-flops ( I was appalled). So what is the standard these days?

In this country (Switzerland), only women working in banks, professional services or restaurants are obliged to not show any naked part of their legs.

I think it’s extremely strange to expect a girl or young woman wearing stockings outside!

Does this happen to other women when they wear pantyhose?

I ask here because some previous fetish questions had me curious. I don’t wear pantyhose, only stockings, because I hate how pantyhose feel in hot, humid weather, typical in Miami. But I notice in cold dry weather, I get another problem: static electricity causing cling, “zaps”, and even sparks. I’ve never asked anyone about this and figured it was normal, but is it?

It’s normal. I’m up here in Ohio, so it gets a lot colder for a lot longer, and trust me. In the middle of winter, you’re taking your life into your own hair to wrestle on a pair of stockings/hose! I’ve usually switched to tights by that point, which don’t seem to have the static electricity issues that hose do.
